About the red frosting on the Elmo cake... Wilton makes some gel coloring (called Icing Colors), and I use their red. You do have to use quite a bit, but it gives a nice red. :) I buy mine at a local craft store, and I have also seen it at Wal-Mart in the craft/cake-decorating section. HTH!
